In this vital role, Calvin will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of the ABA venue, addressing maintenance needs, and overseeing health and safety protocols to enhance the overall experience for patrons.
About Calvin Rainey
Calvin Rainey hails from Hamilton in the Waikato region and brings a wealth of diverse experiences to his new position at ABA. Calvin's sporting journey spans various disciplines, including long-distance running, indoor and outdoor cricket, archery, martial arts, and even service rifle association competition shooting. His passion for solo pursuits like kayaking, hunting, and fishing underscores his commitment to staying active and connected to nature.
Having worked in fields as varied as mechanical maintenance engineering, primary school teaching, sports club management, regional junior sport administration, logistics and transport, and events and venue security, Calvin's multifaceted background equips him with the skills and versatility needed for his new role at ABA.
Calvin's Role at ABA
As the Stadium Caretaker and Health & Safety Coordinator, Calvin's mission is clear: to respond promptly to facility issues, continually enhance safety measures, and elevate the overall experience for ABA's valued patrons.
Calvin's Perspective on Badminton
While Calvin may not be a seasoned badminton player, his experience teaching the sport to students as part of physical education has given him an appreciation for its accessibility to beginners. He admires how badminton allows children to start playing immediately, fostering smiles and enthusiasm among young athletes. Calvin believes that badminton's low entry barrier for beginners sets it apart from many other sports that require a higher level of skill for novices.
Calvin's Interests
Outside of his professional life, Calvin is a bookworm with a penchant for reading. He also has a deep interest in community workshops, makerspaces, and collaborative groups, showcasing his commitment to community engagement and personal growth.
