PALMERSTON NORTH 2025

NEW ZEALAND JUNIOR TEAM COMPETITION

For our Palmerston North 2025 teams, we will be selecting players to play in their highest eligible age bracket based on their ability. This may mean that several under 13 players are offered positions in Under 15 teams. As per BNZ rules, players can only play up one grade, therefore, under 13 players can only play up to Under 15.

ABA intends to name squads by the end of February for each age group, however, we will wait to name players in each team within each bracket until late May to allow players to improve and show form closer to the event.

For 2025, ABA has set the pricing for NZJTC that is reduced from what was charged in 2024.  The cost per player is not expected to reduce, however, ABA has increased sponsorship.

NZJTC PRE-TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Once squads for each age group are selected, training on Saturday mornings is focussed on preparing for NZJTC.  In the lead up to the tournament, ABA will host parent meetings and will also host a players team building event.  In 2024 this was 10 pin bowling and arcade games.  ABA will also host a formal presentation for all players selected where they will receive their 2025 playing shirt and be celebrated.

The tournament starts June 29 and ends July 2.  ABA teams travel on June 28 and return July 3. We travel the morning of June 28 to Palmerston North from Lloyd Elsmore Badminton Club.  The buses will leave at 7am and all players should be there by 6.45am at the latest.  The players should arrive back by 4pm on July 3.

We have two luxury buses with professional drivers.  The drivers determine the safest way to travel taking into account the weather and road conditions.  Both buses will have adult supervision with several coaches/managers on each bus.

If any player is not going down or returning on the bus, you must email ABA to confirm so that ABA has it noted.  Please note that if you are bringing your child back, you must pick your child up no later than 7.15am on July 3 from our accommodation and email to let us know you will be doing this.

If your child suffers from motion sickness, please take precautions including providing motion sickness medication, plastic bags, baby wipes, and informing ABA in advance.
