Auckland Badminton Association (ABA) is pleased to announce the addition of Tsun-Yu (Laura) Lin to our Development team. She will work alongside our Community Manager Amanda Davies and our other Development coordinators Zeck Li and Warren Ji.
Laura brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to this crucial role, and her arrival marks a significant step forward in the association's mission to promote and develop the sport of badminton in the Auckland region.
Laura Lin, a seasoned badminton professional with over a decade of experience in the sport where she represented Chinese Taipei on the international stage since 2011. She recently reached the Women's Doubles semifinals at the New Zealand National Championships 2023. Internationally, she reached the quarterfinals at the YONEX Chinese Taipei Open in 2016, Malaysia International Challenge in 2015 and 2017.
She will take charge of shaping and implementing Auckland Badminton Association's development programs. Her extensive knowledge of the game and her passion for nurturing talent make her a valuable addition to the team.
She currently coaches the Aspiring Junior Squad and is the Doubles Coaching Leader for our Wisden Squad, our top Senior High Performance program.
In her role as Development Coordinator, Laura will work with schools and our development team to increase participation in badminton at all levels from beginner to advance-level. She will also collaborate with other contracted coaches to enhance our coaching standards and improve the overall skill level of the players within the Auckalnd region. She will have other focuses such as identifying and cultivating new talent.

Laura Lin expressed her excitement about this new role, saying, "I am thrilled to join Auckland Badminton Association and be part of an organization that is committed to developing the sport I love.
"I am from Taiwan and have been a badminton player for 15 years. I used to play Singles at one point for 8 years and I used to represent the Taiwan Cooperative Bank when I played.
"Badminton has immense potential in the Auckland region, and I look forward to working with the ABA community to unlock that potential and create a thriving badminton ecosystem.
"I want to help more children become a better player. I want to share my different experiences with the players, whether that is on-court skills or physical training. I hope I can help more people who loves badminton, so they can play for a longer time with the right posture and less injuries involved.
"I want to remind players to enjoy the moments with your teammates when you win, and encourage each other to improve together when you lose."
