Introducing our new Development Manager: Tony Naidu!

Auckland Badminton Association is excited to officially announce our new development manager, Tony Naidu!

BACKGROUND

"Prior to joining Auckland Badminton Association, I was the General Manager for Cricket Papua New Guinea.

"I was responsible for managing all aspects of the national body in country during the height of the covid pandemic, which severely impacted the developing country with countless people dying.

"I was a part of Cricket PNG's first senior Cricket World Cup, and helped establish their first under-19 female national team.

"I created new competitions for both high performance and community cricket. I have previously worked at Auckland Cricket as the Community Cricket Manager and have a strong understanding of the Auckland sports environment.

"I also have sports governance experience, where I have previously been President of Harbour Golf, and then the first Chairman of North Golf, the amalgamation of Harbour Golf and Northland Golf.

JOB ROLE

"My role is to help Auckland Badminton deliver on its vision that every opportunity is created for participation in Badminton.

"Specifically I will be working with the operational and day to day aspects of the association to ensure we develop the best internal process that allow us to deliver our vision for all stakeholders.

"Badminton in Auckland is in an envious position where there is more demand than we can accommodate, and it is our job at Auckland Badminton to be innovative to allow for increased participation through schools, clubs, events, tournaments, community initiatives and representative programs."

STATEMENT

"I believe strongly that sport is important to us all being healthy and active. To fully enjoy life while being the best we can be.

"This might mean representing your country at a high level, or it can still mean playing sport and being active in a community club at 75-years-old.

"Sports gives us all so much, if we choose to participate and learn from every experience. I believe that it is an honour to work in sports with so many people who are passionate about their sport.

"It is my responsibility to ensure myself and my team set the highest standards possible. We will work to grow and innovate to adapt to our ever-changing environment.

"Badminton offers new challenges for me, and I’m excited to be working in such a fast-paced growing sport."
